A Couple Little Questions

How do I protect them in this crazy world? How do I teach them what is true and right? These are the questions swimming around in my mind.

What helped me the most in the early days was finding a godly and transparent family who were wise in biblical parenting. I watched how and what they did and asked tons of questions. The next thing, which actually still continues to help me to this day, is reading good and solid parenting books.

Parenting is very hard and it is extremely selfless. I think being a mom has taught me more about obediance than it has taught my kids. Take care my friend.

Great words from wise friends. You are off to a great start! Prayer and humility are definately the cornerstones of parenting. They both remind us, in times of uncertainty, what is certain and who is in control. In my own walk, I know that it helps to see things from an eternal perspective...God allows what he hates in order to achieve what He loves and He works all things together for good..."all for good" being the important part! In the good and bad times I try to remember that the Lord is at work, and to remember His gospel grace to us ~ and then I try to talk about that gospel grace with my kids. I think it was Piper who said his mom taught him to live between the lines ..."tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home" Thank God for His grace...past, present and future!!
Blessings to you....

AMEN to prayer---been on our knees ALOT for our children. One of my favorite scriptures that speaks to who God is---Jer. 33:3 "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know". He didn't just have that ability with Jeremiah. When the owners manual seems to be missing---talk to Him---who knows what method He will use to answer. Raising a child who will be equipped to respond to God--it takes lots of energy sometimes, but sometimes a peaceful life is a biggie. It seems He has given them to you and your husband--so He has been equipping you all your life to do this. Be willing to continue to ask questions of others, to watch their lives, then take all that to Him and ask if its the right path for your family of four. Prioritize, first your relationship with God, be at peace with Him, rest in Him. Then be the best husband and wife couple you can be by His grace. It will come.

You can't. Seriously. But you can trust God. That's it. I don't have it mastered. I worry all the time. But God is faithful and good and true. Love you, Mama.

Now that I have older kids - they tell me that the best way I taught them was through example! Even teaching them how to call upon God and his word to look for answers and encouragement. It's not only the words that come out of our mouths (that's the easy part - most of the time) but the actions that they see in everyday life. I have loved seeing them on their knees praying or digging into their bibles looking for those "rights and wrongs". There is no guarantee (and they WILL make miskes) but with prayer and example you are leading them down the right path - the rest is up to them and God!! But I can say that your doing good so far my friend!! love ya, XOXO

p.s. don't want to sound like I have all the answers - I still worry & pray for them everyday!!!!
