Remembering Made Me Laugh

Yesterday I was driving, and I had a memory from high school. It made me laugh out loud, in my car, by myself. So, here it is:

Lisa and I had two best friends in high school, Staci and Amy. The four of us were inseparable.
Every summer, the four of us would vacation at a lake in Northern California with Amy's family. Tanning (or burning in my case), skiing, swimming, jet-skiing. Chocolate malts at the Shake Shack, lunches at a little restaurant called The Kettle. So much fun.

Oh yea, and we thought it was really cool to howl, whistle, and yell out to cute guys driving or walking by. Thinking back now, I can't believe we did that.

One night, we were walking down the road as a jeep was approaching with four guys piled inside. So, we launched into our typical reaction-calling to them, whistling, etc. As they drove past us, one of them called something out.

We were split on what exactly he said. One of us thought he said, "Meet us at The Kettle!" Another thought he said, "Go back to the kennel!"

Ha! I guess we'll never know if we were complimented or insulted that night. What a bunch of geeks we were!

So not geeks. But I guess I was too, nobody would have asked me to meet them at the Kettle. Too funny. I like remembering stuff like that.

I vote "Meet us at The Kettle." You are too gorgeous for anyone to suggest you go to a kennel. How's your busy beginning of school? So nice to have a restful weekend!

I have to say something else: if they Amy and Staci don't read your blog, you should really forward this to them. Do you ever talk to them? Are these the Amy and Staci I know too?

isnt it funny how memories (good & bad) come back at the strangest time.. maybe to remind us of a simplier time or to tell us how far we've come...
in any case who cares what they said...but that you had the moment of friendship... where it was just the 4 if you and the world did not matter! oh to be young and carefree again!

I'm so going to forward this to Amy- she'll get a kick out of the memory, I'm sure! We just spent a week up there and the shakes are as great as ever! ;)

Chrissie,
Thanks for sharing your fun memory. It gave me a huge smile and a laugh just thinking about it. I also read some of your other blogs. Good stuff. I haven't blogged in like two years, but I'm feeling inspired to write again. I hope all is well. :)Amy

Hey Chrissie! What memories! At first when you mentioned the lake and laughed in your car I thought you were going to write about Amy baring her moon to the world in the car. Then, when you mentioned the Kettle, I thought you were going to write about the silly names we made up Bertha, Virgil, etc. Ah, what good times!
